severe hotness

So, that little thing that says days since updated was at 6. It looks like a guilt meter that reminds you how slack you have been. I do feel guilty, but to be honest, part of me couldn't give a fuck either. Brutal honesty, gotta love it.
This entry is going to be a little random, but the spirit is here. Trust me :)
The weather has been far from perfect, but what do you expect from the driest state on the driest continent on earth. We suffered through four days of 40c-44c (104-111F) temps until the heat broke on Sunday. When the wind direction did change it blew the smoke from a bushfire on Kangaroo Island in the gulf choking the city in smoke. It was a bit eerie as people thought that there were fires nearby. I has been quite pleasant up until Tuesday but has been back in the high 30's today and will be back to 40 tomorrow. This morning we woke up to more smoke hanging over the city, but this time from the state of Victoria hundreds of kilometres away. It has almost lifted but there is still a faint haze all around. Sadly the fires interstate are still out of control and it looks as if there will be property losses as well as the people who have already lost their lives this week as a result of the blazes. Nasty stuff.
Now onto work. I hate to write about it too much here, but need to vent somewhere I guess. I secured an ally this week. My manager directly above me who also happens to be the factory manager has been sticking up for me somewhat. Yesterday afternoon I let fly in front of the boss and most of the senior management team and let them know my thoughts and what is actually happening at the moment. To summarize I pretty much said that I feel like that I am doing the jobs of 3 different people, and that I shouldn't have to.
Everyone pretty much agreed, the boss got angry that it had gotten this bad and said that he wanted a review at 9am the next morning to plan a way out of this hole. Thankfully I was excluded from this meeting, which hopefully means that the solution doesn't involve me. The problem is that there is a long road ahead with more work than I can still cope with and my replacement is nowhere in sight :(
Having said all of that. Tomorrow is a public holiday here in oz, so sleep in I shall. There is a Cricket match on between Australia and Sri Lanka at Adelaide Oval, but seeing as it is going to be a stinker I will probably pass on going. If the predicted cool change comes in, it might be worth going down in the evening. We'll wait and see.
I did mention some randomness didn't I?
Hopped in the car earlier to grab something for dinner and a Beck song came up on the shuffle play on the iPod. I thought i'd let you have a listen and a watch.
Not a bad song actually.
