Written December 31:
I think my ass has melted off.
Seriously, its a bit hot today. Reached 108 (42+) friday and it has already got to 100 today. I have probably drunk close to 2litres of fluids all day just to keep sane. Alcohol would be fun, but the hang over would not.
Because of the heat, most peoples new years eve plans have been put off as the idea of being in an area where there will be a few hundred or so people does not mean hot and sweaty fun like it should be.
So, I owe these here pages a christmas re-cap don't I?
Firstly, must check where I left off over a week ago......
Yeah, well christmas eve was spent doing a bit more running around and stocking up on some eats for the few days the shops remained closed. You honestly would have thought that a major disaster was coming as people were buying stuff like it was going out of fashion......
Started writing Jan 1st again:
Sorry about that, got distracted by shiny things and left that entry to finish of later.
Christmas day itself was quite relaxed. Headed off to my dads house with my sister in tow for a cold cut lunch consisting of chicken, prawns, baked fish and salads, all washed down with some alcoholic beverages. For the evening, it was off to the outer suburbs for a similar meal at an aunt and uncles house which we exited at about 10pm. In bed by midnight. That was Christmas day over and done with. Nothing really exciting. Got a few presents that I wanted, some unexpected, but otherwise all seemed happy with their gifts. Monday night we headed off to dinner at a pub down in the Port for dinner which was quite good considering the reputation of the area. Managed to catch up with the rellies that we only see once or twice a year.
From there I skip to the end of last week. I kindly gave up two of my approved leave days to go into work to do some maintenance on the MRP system that we use which turned into 2 and a half days by the time I had finished. Finished up there by mid morning on Friday and headed home in what was the searing hot day. I ventured out later that afternoon to the beachside suburb of Glenelg where I had to pick up a new pair of prescription glasses and made the most of the sea breeze down by the beach for an hour or so before heading home. I was going to take some pic of the scantily clad people jumping off the jetty, but thought that might be a bit too perverted when no one else had a camera around. It goes to say, that it was worth hanging around for a gawk anyway.
So, I have next week off on full paid leave and don't have much to do at all really. I plan on having a shop around for my new digital camera that I have been looking to get. I don;t know whether to layby it or bung it on the credit card and suffer the consequences. Bah! I'll figure it out. Other than that, might go for a bit of a drive, bit of a shop and a good sleep in every day. Doesn't sound too hard does it? The main thing is that I won't be at work.
Oh, by the time I had finished typing up this here entry it has been raining all day, thank fuck for cool changes.... there have also been some nasty bushfires in the eastern states today as their weather got pretty hot as well... lets hope they get cool very soon and that no one is killed in the terrible fire storms that have swept through....
Till next time, keep smilin'
~MJ~
