Wow.

Where did the weekend go?

I sorta promised that I would do an entry over the weekend, but to tell the truth it was more a case of the can't be fucked's (is that even a word?).

My last day at work last week kinda flew past. Being the usual end of month was a non-event for me this time as I am removed from the whole financials of it these days. I was still there to give a hand should the need be, but it all seemed to go pretty well. You just get that feeling sometimes where you can't let go and think that you need to be involved somehow to make sure things happen. Yeah, well I'm slowly getting used to it, it just feels strange that I'm not part of the bigger picture anymore. My ears are still finely tuned to all the gossip and goings on. I was even nicknamed "Mr. Junior Vice President" at one point because apparently I knew all the goings on from the inner sanctum. Ahhhh well.

Friday night I dropped over to my dads house for a pizza and a catch up. We logged on to a rental website and booked a hire car for the week away, researched around a bit and found some exorbitant prices and ended up settling for a mid sized 6cyl sedan to use for our week. The one advantage of going to Queensland is that their fuel is cheaper up there as the State Government subsidizes some of it. Yay for them. At this stage I have no particular plans other than catching up with the rellies for a few meals and chin-wags. After all it has been some 10+ years since I have seen any of this side of the family. Should be an interesting reunion, as this is the side of the family that is still fairly well divided after my parents divorce some 15+ years ago. Damn, can't even remember when it all went down now, was so long ago.

Saturday was , well I can't really remember. I think I went to the bank with a big bagfull of loose change that i had collected over the last few months. Came to a total of $126.50 so I transferred that straight over to the credit card. God help me, the credit card is going to take a bruising in a weeks time. All with good intentions though.

Sunday was lawn mowing and clean up day. Fun if you really think so, but the lawn had grown to about 2 feet tall in some places due to the recent rains we have had. The biggest pain was all of the little piles of "doggie surprises" buried at the bottom of the grass. Nasty stuff.

We were lucky enough to have a holiday here yesterday for Labour Day (still haven't figured out why we have such a holiday) so the grandparents were invited over for a BBQ dinner. Yours truly was the cook for the day. Much was eaten and the dogs had a run around the backyard.

Much sadness over the bomb blasts in Bali over the weekend. Up to 4 Australians are reported to have been killed and dozens more injured. Scary footage from in the restaurant where one of the blasts went off of a man with a backpack walking into the place just seconds before it is believed that he exploded. Police have apparently found three severed heads that are thought to be that of the suicide bombers. Such a shame. Thankfully it wasn't on the scale of the 2002 bombings that killed over 80 Australians and 200 odd people in total

A couple of friends from work are due to fly off to Bali in less than 2 weeks and are now seriously considering canceling their trip. The biggest thing from stopping them doing it is that they have been saving for the last 6 months to go away and may lose all the money they have spent booking it. People are saying that we shouldn't let terrorists keep us away from places like this. But seriously, would you have fun and feel safe on holidays after something like this has happened?

I'm not really sure. Thankfully I am travelling inside of Australia, be it though only a few hundred kilometres from the coast of Indonesia.

Anyway. Haven't really done much today. Vacuumed the car out after washing it yesterday. Put another load of empty cans and bottles into the car to cash in. Ended up getting back $60, which is not a bad effort for a drive down to the recycle centre.

The rest of the day? Who knows. Might do some washing, tidying up blah blah...

The rest of the week.. might do a spot of shopping tomorrow. That needs a whole day folks. Thursday I am planning on driving up to the riverland for a day trip, picking up some mettwurst from a butcher in the Barossa for the rellies up north. Yes folks, I will take the camera. Friday, my sisters BF is coming over so I can see if we can sort out a problem with his car (same as the last car I had). Saturday is a relax day with saturday night being the party for my mum's 50th birthday. Fun, fun.

Sunday is fly away day, but I will try and do another entry before then. Don't hold me to it though.

As always, if you see the light on, say hi! Or you can just abuse the shit out of me! either is good.... haha.

Later folks.
